Course Overview

Synopsis

This session explains how networks ensure safe and reliable peering using prefix filtering and route policies. It highlights how incorrect routing announcements can cause route leaks, hijacks, or traffic misdirection, and how filtering mechanisms help protect internet routing. Participants will also learn how operators validate prefixes and maintain stable BGP peering at Internet Exchanges for secure and efficient traffic exchange.

Target Audience

Network engineers.

Pre-requisites

Participants should have a basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing, sub netting, and routing fundamentals. Familiarity with BGP, Autonomous Systems (AS), and basic Internet routing will help learners better understand how prefix filtering and route policies work in real network environments.
